 uh yes i do i mean you know if the question is is it big enough to help the answer has to surely be yes um there is so much that we just heard that is uh really good i mean there's a lot of very good things in here many i'm i'm impressed i you know would would i have loved to see some more money for state and local governments yes would i have liked to have seen the unemployment uh insurance retroactive yes i mean i could uh nibble around the edges at some things.

and and say you know i would have liked to have seen more here and there but this is this is certainly going to help no question about it.

 i'm glad you mentioned the state and local governments because of course that's what democrats gave up uh during the last negotiations uh on the last bill that passed in december and obviously you and i both know that state and local governments fund absolutely crucial and multiple services that are going to be going to the wall in the coming months if they don't get help from the federal government um there are good things in the bill the checks are much higher than the 600 checks that again the compromise in december thing is joe biden talked about two thousand dollar checks as recently as january the tenth he was tweeting just a few days ago two thousand dollar checks john ossoff uh and uh reverend warnock ran in georgia on two thousand dollar checks even marco rubio republican senator saying let's have two thousand dollar checks this uh plan has a call for fourteen hundred dollar checks and they're basically saying add it to the six hundred and that's the two thousand not quite what they said though.

especially as you say there are many good things in the bill i heard him talking about 15 federal minimum wage uh which is a great progressive achievement is what progress has been calling for for a while and joe biden's saying that he backs it he wants to bring it in but then he does this stuff on the checks where he also said 1400 will go a long way to helping you and a lot of people might argue it doesn't go that far a one-off check i know that bernie sanders and others have been calling for checks every month as long as the crisis continues um one quick question on.

uh how this gets through congress you've worked on the senate budget committee which uh bernie sanders is going to be back in charge of now with a democratic majority but 50 50. it's very tight you have joe manchin of west virginia who's saying he's not interested in these checks he doesn't like these checks forget republicans we're not sure even all the democrats will vote for this joe biden relief plan.
