my favorite thing to discuss is the virginia bay colony.
the congress met and decided they were going to issue their own currency.
and let's call this the virginia notes and they put out a certain amount of notes into society and at the same time.
they issued a tax rate for people to pay the government the money back at the end of the year.
and what this did was it created demand for the currency people needed to earn the notes in order to pay their tax to be able to participate in society and be a member of this colony.
and there are certain jobs that just need to get done for society to function and taxes creating demand for a currency makes people go to work to earn the currency.
people need to educate the children and grow the food and pick up the trash.
and so that's what the taxes were for and at the end of the year or whatever the financial period was when the congress collected the taxes.
they destroyed them they didn't need the notes they create them.
they have the power to create them why would they need them back they destroyed them because their purpose was to create demand for the currency.
i need to say that the video.
i was tagged in was great they started it off with this might sound stupid.
and that's like how i know something good is coming it was a wonderful video.
and if you want me to talk more about the modern function of taxes.
(Grubb, 2015: 27–28)
