Latest estimate: 4.1 percent -- August 08, 2023
The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the third quarter of 2023 is 4.1 percent on
August 8, up from 3.9 percent on August 1. After recent releases from the US Census Bureau, the Institute for Supply Management,
the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, an increase in the nowcast of third-quarter real gross
private domestic investment growth from 5.2 percent to 8.1 percent was slightly offset by decreases in the nowcasts of third-quarter
real personal consumption expenditures growth and third-quarter real government spending growth from 3.5 percent and 2.9 percent,
respectively, to 3.2 percent and 2.7 percent, while the nowcast of the contribution of the change in real net exports to second-quarter
real GDP growth increased from 0.08 percentage points to 0.11 percentage points.
